Blackjack Strategy Coach — Play the Math, Not a Hunch

Built by players who were tired of losing to bad decisions. Enter your hand and the dealer's card — the engine returns the mathematically correct move every time. Perfect basic strategy holds the house edge near 0.5%. Guesswork? 2–5%. That gap is real money.

That's the mathematically correct move. Basic strategy keeps the house edge near 0.5% — but only on fair, European-rules tables. Play where the math actually works.

Why We Built This Tool

Casinos don't teach you basic strategy — because it costs them money when you use it. We built this coach because we wanted a fast, honest reference we could check mid-session without digging through charts. It runs the same decision tables the pros memorise, now available for free to anyone.

The Four Core Decisions

Hit — Draw another card. Correct when your total is low and the dealer shows a strong card (7–Ace). Risk busting, but folding to a strong dealer is worse.

Stand — Keep your hand. Right when the dealer is likely to bust (showing 2–6) and you hold 12 or more. Let them destroy themselves.

Double Down — Double your bet and take exactly one more card. Most powerful on 10 or 11 against a weak dealer. This is where real money is made.

Split — Turn a pair into two hands. Always split Aces and 8s. Never split 10s (you already have 20) or 5s (treat them as a 10).

Practice Mode — Drill Random Hands Until Strategy Becomes Reflex

Knowing the chart and playing it under pressure are two different things. Switch to Practice mode and the coach deals you random hands — pairs, soft totals, tricky doubles — against a random dealer up card. Pick Hit, Stand, Double or Split; every correct answer earns 20 XP and a plain-language explanation of the math. Splits are fully covered here, from always-split aces and 8s to the never-split 10s and 5s. A few minutes a day is enough to memorise the entire basic strategy chart without ever opening it.

Strategy Reduces the Edge — It Doesn't Erase It

Basic strategy brings the house edge to around 0.5% — but it doesn't make you unbeatable. Variance is real. Set a hard budget before you sit down and treat any session as entertainment, not income. If gambling starts feeling like a problem, our Safer Play page has free resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is blackjack basic strategy?

Blackjack basic strategy is a mathematically proven set of decisions (Hit, Stand, Double Down, Split) that minimises the house edge to under 0.5% in standard single-deck or multi-deck blackjack.

When should you double down in blackjack?

You should double down when your hand totals 10 or 11 and the dealer shows a weak up card (2–9). This maximises your expected value when you are statistically favoured to beat the dealer.

Should you always split Aces and 8s?

Yes. Splitting Aces gives you two chances to hit 21. Splitting 8s turns a hard 16 (the worst blackjack hand) into two hands starting at 8, each with better odds.
