How Limbo Works
You set a target multiplier โ say 2.00ร. The game generates a random result. If the result is at or above your target, you win your stake times the target. If it's below, you lose the stake. One decision, one outcome, no drawing rules or bonus rounds.
Most implementations use a 1% house edge, which is why the numerator is 99 rather than 100. That 1% is the entire cost of the game โ no hidden RTP, no weighted reels, nothing else to check.
Why Every Target Has the Same 1% Edge
This is the single most misunderstood thing about Limbo. Players hunt for a "sweet spot" multiplier. There isn't one, and the math shows why immediately.

Target Multipliers and Real Hit Rates
What target selection does control is how often you win and how long the droughts run. These numbers are the ones that actually matter for session planning.

Read the drought column carefully. At a 100ร target, a 462-round losing streak isn't unlucky โ it happens 10% of the time. Players who set a high target and then increase their bet "because it's due" are misreading a completely normal distribution.
Variance: The Only Thing That Actually Changes
Since EV is fixed at โ1%, the entire decision is a variance decision. Here's what a $100 bankroll looks like at $1 flat bets across different targets.
Same house edge, same expected loss of $5 over 500 rounds, wildly different probability of ever getting there. Low targets grind slowly toward the expected value. High targets are effectively lottery tickets with a 1% commission.
Wheel: Risk Levels and Segment Math
Wheel is the same 1% edge expressed differently. You choose a number of segments (10, 20, 30, 40 or 50) and a risk level (Low, Medium, High). Each configuration produces a different distribution of multipliers, but the weighted average always returns 99%.

Careful with "1.20ร" segments on Low risk. A 1.20ร return on a 1ร stake is a 0.20 unit profit, not a 1.20 unit one. Low-risk Wheel produces a lot of results that look like wins on screen but are net-negative or barely break-even. Read the multiplier as a total return, not as profit.
Bankroll Sizing by Target
The practical rule: your bankroll needs to survive the 99th-percentile drought for your chosen target, not the average one.

Most players who "can't beat Limbo" are betting 2โ5% of bankroll at a 10ร target. At that sizing, a routine 44-round drought removes most of the bankroll โ and 44-round droughts happen roughly every ten sessions.

Because Limbo has no table maximum in the traditional sense, players assume the Martingale finally works here. It doesn't โ the constraint simply moves from the table limit to your balance. Limbo at 1% is one of the cheapest games available anywhere โ a tenth the cost of a typical slot. The danger isn't the edge; it's that a 1% edge applied to 18,000 rounds an hour is far more expensive than a 4% edge applied to 400 spins.
